Among Managers There Are Three Distinctive Leadership Styles. They Are:
In autocratic or dictatorship style, the manage has centralized power in
decision-making process. There is very less involvement of participation and
only from top-level. There is less delegation of authority and the manager
takes all the decisions especially the major one. Middle-level and boom-level
management have to follow the directions and implement the decisions. The
subordinates have no or less speaks and participation in forming a decision. Since
the manager is only the person who has to make decisions, so quick decisions
are taken.
In Democratic / Bureaucratic style, participation is allowed from all the
team members. All the decisions are taken with mutual understanding and with
the consensuses of the majority. There is decentralization in making decisions.
This style creates cooperation among team members as everyone has right to
share opinions and give suggestions on specific situation. There are laws, rules
and regulations which should be followed in this style due to which the time to
make decisions on specific tasks may take long.
In Free-rein leadership style, the manager gives free hands and the full
authority to team members to make their own decisions as they think better for
achieving organizational goals. The manager shows trust his on team members to
perform well in conducting the work tasks as he thinks the team members are
experienced and capable to do their jobs best for achieving the organizational
objectives and goals. If the member is new or inexperience, then this style of
leadership can’t success in achieving common goals as due to lack of knowledge,
experience and expertise organizational plans can’t execute efficiently and
effectively.
